Introduction of Shenyang Medical College (SMC)

Shenyang Medical College (SMC) is a medical institution of higher learning in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, P. R. China. Shenyang Medical College was founded in 1949. It was formerly known as Shenyang Municipal Advanced Practice Nurse School founded in 1949 and was changed to Shenyang Advanced Medical School directly managed under the provincial administration in 1958 and then was upgraded to Shenyang Medical College in 1987. In the past 50 years, the college has expanded in size, increased in the number of specialties offered and improved in operations. The college has four sections, three departments, two centers, two branch institutes, three affiliated hospitals, and 52 teaching hospitals. The college has 17 majors for undergraduate degree and 12 majors for college degree, the number of full time students is over 8000, of which over 4100 are undergraduates.

SMC have established friendly relationships with many foreign universities and medical institutions in the United States, Britain, Japan, Netherlands, and Taiwan, etc. Approved by Liaoning Provincial Department of Education and reported to the Ministry of Education of China for the record, the University has been recruiting international students since 2004. Currently, over 600 international students from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Ghana, Nigeria and Norway are studying at our campus. It has established a multi-tier education system involving bachelor degree (MBBS) education, advanced diploma education, and adult education.

Up to now, it has successively turned out more than 20,000 medical graduates and made contribution to the social and economical development as well as the development of medical and health services.

Majors for overseas students

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree: On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by SMC, if they meet the degree regulations of the university. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).

Living Facility and Conditions

There are boarding house, school infirmary, super market, laundry house and so on. The facilities for physical education is quite complete, there are places for basketball, volleyball, tennis, football, table tennis and so on. The facilities in apartment for overseas students are all complete; there are restroom, satellite TV, telephone, closet, table and chairs, Internet socket in the room. Hot water is provided 24 hours a day, there is washing machine in the apartment.
